Three Rocklin Firefighters were honored Tuesday night with Medal of Valor awards for their bravery and quick-thinking in saving a life.
Take The Rocklin Arts Commission’s Community Survey
The Rocklin Arts Commission is undergoing a community engagement and planning process to understand how best to meet the needs of our community and create a positive impact through the Arts. The Commission is conducting a survey to measure community engagement with different types of art in Rocklin.
By completing this survey, the Commission will be able to review the results and focus on events, services and programs that residents want to see and be a part of.

Build Up Rocklin; Rocklin Adopts Hearts For Heroes Program
Build Up Rocklin Program Update
Rocklin City Council was given a special presentation regarding the Build Up Rocklin program.
In February 2022, Council approved over $3 million dollars for community support programs. These included grants for small businesses and nonprofits, mental health assistance, and the Build Up Rocklin program.
Rocklin Appoints 2024 Mayor & Vice Mayor
During the December 12 Rocklin City Council meeting, Council appointed councilmember Greg Janda as Mayor and councilmember Jill Gayaldo as Vice-Mayor.
Greg Janda was elected to the Rocklin City Council in 2012 and previously served as Mayor in 2020 and 2016. He has been an active community volunteer, serving at various Chamber events: Scramble for Scholars, Hot Chili & Cool Cars, the Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack, at his local church and with his children’s school and sports teams.
City of Rocklin Offices Closed December 25 – January 1 for Holiday Furlough
The City of Rocklin public offices will be closed from Monday, December 25, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024, as the City conducts its annual holiday furlough. Emergency services will continue to be provided at full staffing levels.

City Of Rocklin Delivers Several Exciting Proclamations
Mayor Broadway delivered a proclamation recognizing November 25, 2023 as Small Business Saturday.
“Small Businesses are the heartbeat of our community,” Broadway stated, ”They keep us growing and moving forward and this is an opportunity for us to be able to recognize that with this day. We urge the residents of our community to support small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday and ‘Choose Rocklin’ throughout the year.”
2023 Wall Of Recognition Honorees
The Wall of Recognition, initially dedicated on the 125th anniversary of Rocklin’s incorporation, was created to recognize and permanently commemorate persons, families, business entities, and community groups making significant contributions to the city.

Summer Civic Career Program Students Recognized
City Council recognized the efforts and accomplishments of this year’s Summer Civic Career Program (SCCP), participant’s.
This program introduces high school students to some of the behind-the-scenes roles that help the City function and highlights some of the more visible roles, like firefighter, police officer, and building inspector. Fifteen applicants were split into two teams and spent a minimum of four hours with each department in the City.

At the August 8, 2023 City Council meeting, Haley Reid, Acting City Clerk, swore in two newly appointed commission members. Jarod Thomas was sworn in as the newest Planning Commissioner, filing an unexpected vacancy, which will expire June 30, 2026.
2023 Ruhkala Community Service Awards Honorees Recognized by City Council
The Rocklin City Council held a special presentation for the 2023 Ruhkala Community Service Award Winners at the May 9 City Council meeting and honored them with an awards reception.
This year’s honorees have been involved in decades of volunteerism, helping veterans and students in need, promoting education, leading youth sports, and honoring Rocklin’s library.
SWRA Master Plan Outline
City Council received a presentation from the Parks & Recreation Director Kevin Huntzinger, and representatives from Melton Design Group on the proposed master plan for the Sunrise Whitney Recreation Area (SWRA). The 184-acre unused land, formally the Rocklin Golf Club, was purchased by the City in 2018. On April 26, 2022, City Council approved the master plan contract with Melton Design Group for SWRA in order to ensure the area is developed appropriately.

The Placer County Elections Office has certified the votes in the 2022 November General Election, and the results for Rocklin are in.
Influential Groups Honored At The 2022 Wall of Recognition Ceremony
Last Thursday, the City of Rocklin honored the accomplishments of Club Español and “Bring Our Kids Home” with inscriptions on the Wall of Recognition for efforts that have shaped the diversity of Rocklin’s community and the quality of its educational institutions.

Community Shows Enthusiasm for SWRA Master Plan Concepts
Approx. 175 People Attended Sept. 12 Meeting
The City of Rocklin held a public meeting to share initial ideas and proposed amenities for the Sunset Whitney Recreation Area master plan on Monday, Sept. 12 at the Rocklin Event Center.
The evening featured a formal presentation outlining the current iteration of plans along the main corridors of the SWRA, including a central area for activities currently labeled “The Hub,” a new park space near Sunset Blvd. on the west side of the SWRA, and more passive recreation proposed on the east side.

City Accepting Nominations for Wall of Recognition
Former Mayor George Magnuson Reflects on Volunteerism
George Magnuson was one of the City’s longest-serving City Councilmembers, a volunteer firefighter, and community activist. He recently recalled the feeling of pride he took from in being a volunteer and that he was pleased to see a spotlight shined on the many others who give back when the “Public Safety Volunteers” were included in the first group of honorees to be inscribed on the Wall of Recognition in 2018.
