Bill Hack, previously the Fire Chief for the City of Chico and firefighting professional for more than 20 years, has been hired as the Fire Chief for the Cities of Rocklin and Lincoln. Hack will begin his new duties on Monday, August 21.

Hack follows in the footsteps of Kurt Snyder, who is retiring in September and was the first Fire Chief to oversee both the Rocklin and Lincoln departments under a shared fire services agreement. The agreement began in 2016 and allows the departments to share management staff, including a chief, a computer aided dispatch system, and other resources to create operating efficiencies.

“Taking on the role of Fire Chief for the Cities of Rocklin and Lincoln is a great honor, privilege, and opportunity” Hack said. “I know I’m joining first-class organizations and will strive to build on the successes of Chief Snyder and his administration.”

Hack began his firefighting career in 1994 with Cal-Fire before being hired in 1995 with the Chico Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks from firefighter to fire chief. Hack has also owned and operated a hazardous materials consulting company, taught at Butte Community College, and holds a degree in policy analysis and planning from UC Davis.

“We’re excited to welcome Chief Hack to Rocklin and look forward to the impacts his leadership will have on an already strong department,” Rocklin City Manager Rick Horst said.

Hack will continue to build upon the innovative partnership between the Rocklin and Lincoln Fire Departments, which has created efficiencies for each city. He will be focused on providing a pro-active and forward-looking fire and disaster response model based on Community Risk Reduction and mission-tasked rapid response teams.

“Lincoln is extremely pleased to have someone with Chief Hack’s expertise and leadership skills to guide and prepare our fire department,” said Lincoln City Manager Matthew Brower. “And I can’t thank Chief Snyder enough for his excellent leadership over the past year and wish him the very best in his well-earned retirement.”
