Whitney Park Bike Pump Track Groundbreaking
On Monday, September 23, Rocklin City leaders and partners celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Whitney Community Park Bike Pump Track.
The track has been a highly desirable project boosted by community support. Members of the Rocklin Bike Coalition, who voiced their support for a pump track at Whitney Park for years, were in attendance during the ceremony.
Councilmembers and City Staff shared their insights on the project, citing the countless hours spent on planning, budget, choosing a site, surveying and gauging community support among other factors that went towards bringing this project to life.
“This has been a long-awaited project and it feels great to finally be here celebrating the start of what is guaranteed to be a celebrated community asset” said Mayor Greg Janda. “With the construction of the bike pump track, Rocklin will be one of three cities in the greater Sacramento area to offer such a unique amenity, we want to thank our friends with the Rocklin Bike Coalition for bringing this idea forward.”
Construction began this week on the track alongside a parking lot extension near its future site, conducted by Consolidated Engineering, Inc.
