October 22 Rocklin City Council Recap
October 23-31 Declared Red Ribbon Week
During Tuesday evening’s Rocklin City Council meeting, Councilmembers approved a proclamation declaring October 23-31, 2024 as Red Ribbon Week.
Red Ribbon week is the longest standing drug prevention program in the nation, and aims to encourage drug prevention, education, parental involvement, and community-wide support in local communities. Rocklin law enforcement officials encourage all Rocklin citizens to help build drug-free communities and to participate in drug prevention activities by making a visible statement that we are firmly committed to healthy, productive, drug-free lifestyles.
Updates To Current PCTPA Planning Efforts
Council received a special presentation from PCTPA (Placer County Transportation Agency) Senior Transportation Planner Cory Peterson regarding current PCTPA planning efforts in Rocklin.
PCTPA has been busy conducting a Countywide Active Transportation Plan, a process that helps them identify biking, rolling, and walking processes and needs throughout a community. PCTPA has conducted public outreach efforts, appearing at pop-up events in Rocklin to talk to residents and collect feedback. Additionally, the agency ran an online survey to collect feedback directly from residents and received nearly 400 comments.
Based on this feedback, Rocklin residents hold a general desire for more separated facilities from traffic, especially in areas where crosswalks are not present. These facilities include separated bike lanes and additional crosswalks.
PCTPA is currently conducting an Unmet Transit Needs survey that will help identify transit desires from Rocklin residents. The survey will run until the end of October 2024 and can be found here.
