City Council Proclaimed October 6-12 Fire Prevention Week In Rocklin

News

During the Tuesday, September 24 Rocklin City Council meeting, councilmembers approved a proclamation recognizing October 6-12, 2024 as Fire Prevention Week.

Fire Prevention Week is the longest standing public health observance in the United States, being founded in 1925 by U.S. President Calvin Coolidge.

This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week focuses on the importance of smoke alarms in Rocklin homes. The National Fire Protection Association reports that during residential fires, people have nearly a 50 percent better chance of surviving a fire if their home has the recommended number of operating smoke alarms.

The Rocklin Fire Department urges city residents to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement) of the home and to regularly check to make sure your alarms are up-to-date.
