Rocklin is located in proximity to many tourist locations and recreational amenities. It is within 20 minutes of Folsom Lake, 30 minutes of downtown and Old Sacramento, and less than 2 hours from Lake Tahoe, the Pacific Ocean, and San Francisco. 

Rocklin has been one of the fastest growing cities in California. The City’s population grew 64% from 2000-2014 with a current population of approximately 69,294 (according to the latest numbers from the California Dept. of Finance). In August 2008, Family Circle magazine named Rocklin one of the “10 Best Towns” for families in America (it was the only California city on the list).

The Rocklin Library is a Placer County Library Branch offering a large community room, unique reading spaces, a welcoming atmosphere, and expanded Friends of the Rocklin Library book sales. It also has 10 computers for public use, 2 Early Literacy AWE Stations, free WiFi, photocopier and printer services, and air conditioning throughout the building.

Regular events include story times for all ages: Baby Lapsit (0-24 months), Toddler Time (18-36 months), and Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5). Baby Lapsit and Preschool Storytime are held once a week and Toddler Time is offered twice a week. Read to a Dog and the Adult Book Club meet monthly.

PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff

PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF

For public safety, PG&E may decide to turn off electricity when gusty winds and dry conditions, combined with a heightened fire risk, are forecasted. This is called a “Public Safety Power Shutoff” or “PSPS.”

Community Resources

The City of Rocklin annually approves use of federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to support agencies serving the less fortunate in the community. More than $51,000 in total has already been distributed to Habitat for Humanity, Senior’s First, Stand Up Placer, and the Salvation Army as part of the annual CDBG action plan.

The City recently received an additional $164,189 in CDBG funds from the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and Council approved plans for distribution of the funds to the agencies listed below as soon as possible.
